Canoe tour Untouched Sand Dunes

Description

Approach, observe and admire landscapes of Untouched Sand Dunes which lie in Naglių nature sanctuary, Curonian spit.

Our local guide will lead a small group of canoe paddlers 9 km along one of the biggest and highest arrays of dunes in Europe, where walking is forbidden.

The tour begins in a small fishing village where you will be given brief instructions on canoe paddling and start your adventure.

Firstly you will paddle towards Pervalka lighthouse which situated on the water near Horses’ cape. From here you will encounter scenic landscapes of Untouched Sand Dunes and approach it stroke by stroke.

You will be shown places where 50 meter high sand dunes buried fishing villages and  hear stories about extinct curonian people who were fighting these sands for centuries.

After a while you will reach the Naglių Cape where we enjoy picnic with you. After some snacks and drinks you will continue towards one of the biggest colonies of great cormorants in Europe. You can observe over 6000 birds breeding here.

Our tour ends in Juodkrantė, from there we can bring you to your car in Pervalka.

Note: we paddle only downwind, paddling time: 2 hours after start, picnic, and then 1,5 hours till the finish)
