Winter expedition is for those who want to experience Ice-Blokart ice sailing and challenge themselves in unconventional situations. The silence, the sound of blades, the whisper of wind, and sailing on the Curonian Lagoon at speeds of 20–50 km/h (depending on wind strength) will stay with you for a long time. You will control the speed yourself by pulling or releasing the sheet – the sail rope.
At the beginning of the expedition, participants will receive instructions on sailing ice yachts and safe behavior on ice. Then, for 10 minutes, everyone will sail Ice-Blokart ice yachts, performing tasks assigned by the instructor. Once you get familiar with the equipment, off you go! (all our clients unanimously agree that controlling the ice yachts is a hundred times easier than they imagined).
Sailing our ice yachts, we will head towards Ventės Cape. The instructor sailing in front will show you the way and warn you about ice obstacles – “taros” (ice ridges formed naturally when ice expands) or fishermen’s holes. We will stop halfway to have coffee or tea and warm up. During the break, you can ask the expedition guide about the history of the Curonian Spit or simply enjoy the silence and breathtaking views.
The expedition ends at Ventės Cape. After rolling the sails of the ice yachts, participants will be brought back to Nida by bus or snowmobile with sledges attached. If the wind is favorable, there will be an opportunity to return to Nida by Ice-Blokarts.
Note: The expedition is organized only on 100% safe ice, so the expedition guide reserves the right to interrupt the expedition at any time for safety reasons. Expedition participants must wear warm, windproof clothing, warm gloves, and boots. It is possible to organize the expedition from Ventė to Nida, in which case the expedition price increases by 200 Euros.
